Break Up Healing – 5 Things You Can Do

Uh oh… Did you just get dumped? I’d like to offer you a few break up healing tips that will help you through this painful period. There are really five things that you absolutely must do after being dumped to recover quickly and I’d like to talk about them here.

Break Up Healing Tip #1: Accept that the relationship is over – You need to come to terms with the fact that things have ended and you’re now single. Maybe you’ll get back together down the road; maybe you’ll go on to meet someone even better than your ex. I can’t say, but for now you just need to accept that the relationship is done. Nothing is worse that becoming one of those clingy, desperate people that is begging and pleading with their ex to take them back.

Break Up Healing Tip #2: Take advantage of what you’ve got going for you – I know that it probably feels like your life has been uprooted and you’re left with nothing. But we both know that that really isn’t the case. In times like this, it really helps to turn to your friends and family or focus on your hobbies and things that you enjoy. Chances are you’ve got more going on for you in your life than you think, and when you start to build up your confidence and self-esteem, you will begin to feel much better about your situation.

Break Up Healing Tip #3: Get out of the house – The last thing you want to do when you get dumped is to allow yourself to become isolated. Make the effort to get yourself out of the house and meet new people or restore friendships that you may have let atrophy over the years. Friends are great at helping you feel good and get over a breakup. The more friends you have the better!

Break Up Healing Tip #4: Try to make some goals for yourself – Is there anything you want to improve in your life. No, I mean besides your relationship. You want to keep your mind of the break up for awhile, so challenge yourself to improve some area of your life. Do you want to get that raise at work? Do you want to sign up for yoga classes? Do you want to learn how to paint beautiful pictures? Now is a great time for that. Focus on some goals and you’ll be building your self-esteem and self-confidence as you make progress toward them. This is a very effective break up help tip.

Break Up Healing Tip #5: Don’t call him – You really shouldn’t call your ex at all if you want to recover from your break up. The more you call him, the longer it will take for you to recover and move on. Until you get yourself back together, any sort of contact you make with your ex is just going to send you flying into an emotional spiral as you try to read into everything he says or make you plunge into a state of depression when you hear he might be seeing someone. Do yourself a favor and wall yourself off from your ex for a period of time to allow yourself to heal.

These five tips will help you handle your break up and move on with your life. The more of these that you can do, the quicker and smoother your recovery will be. Remember that quote from Ernest Hemingway “The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places.” I know you’re hurting now, but regardless of what happens, you will eventually be stronger because of it.
